It’s time to up your polymer clay earring game! Have you ever wondered how to make your creations pop with shine? Polymer clay is a popular medium used by crafters and creators everywhere, but sadly the finished product isn’t always as shiny and glossy as desired.

In this post I will give you two of my favorite methods to make your earring shiny and glossy, as well as a few tips to help you achieve the best results.

The first method is to use a clear acrylic sealer after baking your clay creations. This will provide an instant shine when applied and can be buffed with a soft cloth for extra sheen and protection.

The second method is a bit more involved but can result in an even shinier finish than clear sealers. This method involves adding UV resin to the top of your clay earrings after baking. This resin will not only provide a glossy finish but also protect against dirt and some minor scratches.

So get excited crafty friends: let’s learn how we can make our polymer clay earrings shine!

Things You will need in order to make you polymer clay earrings shiny.

Method 1 – Using Liquitex Basics Acrylic Varnish

The image features a pair of beautiful polymer clay earrings that have been given a shiny finish. In the foreground, there is a small bottle of glossy varnish and a paintbrush. The artist has applied a thin layer of the varnish onto the earrings, covering every nook and cranny to ensure an even coat. As the varnish dries, it creates a smooth and reflective surface that brings out the colors and details of the earrings. This image perfectly captures the simple yet effective technique of using glossy varnish to give polymer clay jewelry a professional-looking shine.

This method is fairly simple and will give you a basic sheen on your polymer clay creations assuming you already have your polymer clay baked.

Step 1 – Apply the acrylic sealer on top of the polymer clay earrings. I used one of my detail needles to do this. Be sure that the acrylic is spread evenly and completely covers the polymer clay.

Step 2 – Allow the acrylic sealer to dry for about 10 minutes or until it is no longer sticky.

Step 3 – Using a soft cloth, buff in circular motions over the surface of your earrings until you achieve the desired shine.

Method 2- Using UV resin JDiction

Step 1 – Apply carefully from the bottle or a small pot of the UV resin on top of your polymer clay earrings.

Step 2 – Using a needle tool, spread the resin over the surface of your creation to ensure an even coating and no air bubbles are present. The resin can not be in direct contact with the sun.

Step 3 – Place the piece of clay after is covered with the UV resin under the UV LED lamp for a few minutes. I left the lamp work for 120 seconds.

It is possible that the length of curing time depends on the type of lamp used.

Congratulations, you’re done! Now your polymer clay earrings will be extra shiny and glossy. Enjoy your masterpiece!
